Symptoms:

Burnt clutches
Flare shifts
Shuttle shifts
Cycling RPM during shift
Delayed engagement

Cause:

Wear at the pressure control valve sleeve and limited contact area between the valve spool and sleeve during apply allows solenoid feed pressure leakage, preventing the valve from staying in the applied position.

Correction:
