As the bore wears in Ford 4R100 and E4OD units, the accumulator pressure control valve will either remain inward, due to loss of balance oil, or stick outward. Inward position allows for full line to accumulator pressure and results in firm shifts. If the valve sticks outward toward the modulator sleeve and spring, accumulator pressure is low, resulting in soft, slide shifts.
